Happy 6th Anniversary, Mommy & Daddy!

Aunt Frances visited for most of the week this week (Tuesday through Saturday), which was awesome! Mommy loved hanging out with her all week, and she also cleaned our bathrooms and kitchen and hung out with Kiana at the playgrounds so that Mommy could give Aidan more one-on-one time - both of which I *really* appreciate! (Aidan's mood shifts 180 degrees to being a totally happy sunshiney boy if he gets some individual Aidan-Mommy time.) Frances also showed Aidan some cool yoga and soccer moves! :)

Saturday was Mommy and Daddy's 6th wedding anniversary! Daddy explained to Aidan that it was "our family's birthday", and we celebrated with a delicious Saturday brunch in the morning (Daddy made blueberry and apple fritters, and Mommy made goat-cheese omlettes and cut up watermellon).

We also saw lots of friends this week. On Friday, we all had dinner with Christa, Johnny and Oliver (cheesy pizza and sausage bread - yum!). And on Sunday, we went to TWO 3rd birthday parties for Aidan's friends (Jack and Hazel)! Just 9 more days till Aidan is 3, too! We were impressed with ourselves for making it to both of them - looks like we are starting to figure out how to get places, even with a 3 1/2 week old and a toddler!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Sunday was Daddy's first Father's Day as the dad of TWO kids! We celebrated by letting him sleep in late (9AM!), having yummy potatoes and watermellon for breakfast, and going to the Bronx Zoo. It was only Kiana's second time in a car (her first time was coming home from the hospital!), and she did great! Just a little bit of crying, but mostly she was a great sport. Aidan loved going on the monorail, and Kiana was easy and slept for most of the event. (Yay!) Aidan gave Daddy a shell he painted in playschool, and Aidan and Kiana gave him a card with their footprints in it. Happy Father's Day, Daddy! We love you. XOX

Visitors

We have had a wonderful train of family and friends visiting for the last couple of weeks, and more are coming in the next couple of weeks. It's great to have such a wonderful reason to see everyone! Nana visited June 11-14th; Grandma and Grandpa Ruane came down for the day on Sunday, June 13th; then Auntie Julia visited June 15-17; Mommy's cousin Heather stopped by June 19th; Frances is going to visit June 22-26, and then Grandma Ruane is going to visit the following week. It's great to see all of you!

We were especially happy to have Nana around last weekend, when Aidan ended up going to the hospital. Aidan had a virus with a low fever and very sore throat over the weekend, and then on Saturday afternoon woke up choking!. He ended up being okay, , but I called 911 and he went to the hospital with Daddy in an ambulance - he's such a brave boy! We were much happier mid-week when Aidan got over being sick, and Kiana didn't pick up the virus (such a relief!).

One of my favorite things that Kiana is doing right now is giving little baby hugs - she regularly stretches her left arm over my shoulder when I burp her, while she drifts off to sleep. I love it!

Here are some of the things Aidan has been saying recently: (he is such a good big brother!)
- Mommy, I can't wait till Kiana's [here] today! (Tuesday morning, June 1)
- Mommy, your tummy is getting smaller! (after coming home with Kiana from the hospital)
- Kiana, I love you.
- It's okay, Kiana! (regularly now, after Kiana cries)
- Mommy, I want her! I want to hold her! (He's been asking to hold her every day, and then sits quietly holding her on the boppy pillow)
- Kiana, I'm going on the trains now. I'll miss you. (Saturday morning, June 20th)
