We had a nice, relatively uneventful week this week. Aidan is back doing soccer school outside at the bottom of Fort Tryon Park, and it's wonderful to be among all the shades of soft and unfurling spring green. Well - not totally wonderful: Kiana seems to have lost her ability to nap outside or in the Ergo or stroller, and soccer school at 3PM means she is sleepy and *grumpy* on the sidelines, so that makes it difficult. But, I still am absolutely LOVING all the green!

Daddy wanted to make sure that we note this week how absolutely wonderful it has become to put Aidan to bed! It has taken us a long time to get here, but it is fantastic right now! Thanks to chapter books, Aidan is now *excited* to go to bed each night, and Alex and I have to argue about who *gets* to read him the next installment of Dragon Slayer's Academy, or whatever Roald Dahl book we are currently reading. Aidan happily reads his books, and then quickly goes to sleep, while one of us sits in the chair next to his bed. It is SO easy! It's amazing. We are thrilled!

Aidan has worked this week on dealing with non-optimal situations, or coping with things that he doesn't want. On Sunday, I left the house before everyone else was awake so I could get some work done on my laptop at Starbucks. When Aidan woke up and I wasn't there, he was *not* happy! He refused to let Daddy make him his morning cocoa and grumped about it, only allowing me to do it when I got home at 9AM, before I nursed Kiana down for her morning nap. Then, when Daddy took Aidan and Kiana to go on a train ride to the top of the A train and see the new Innwood park, he got upset again, because he wanted to go all the way to the OTHER end of the A train (this would have been a 4 hour roundtrip ride). In dealing with these, Daddy had some serious conversations with him about how we don't always get what we want, but we can make the best of any situation. Aidan seemed to take it to heart! Things are getting more complicated as he gets bigger, but we are proud of him for grappling with these kinds of issues

In Kiana news, she is demonstrating that she really loves *flavorful* foods, which we think is really exciting! On Saturday, she demolished a peace of pineapple (!!), she seems to like spiced guacamole better than sliced avocado, and on Saturday, she loved eating chile! Fun. :)

This weekend we got a lot done. Saturday, we went to Kid Fit - a fair about being healthy that was held next door at PS 187. (That's where Kiana devoured the pineapple!) It was a little chilly, but it was fun to watch the belly-dancer, line dancing, soccer matches, and see friends. Then we did a Costco run. Sunday, I worked most of the day: Aidan watched James and the Giant Peach for the first time (he was excited to see it after reading the book!). Daddy made "rainbow" pepper sauce (with red, orange, yellow, and green roasted peppers), and took the kids to the new Innwood Park. Finally, Aidan was excited because, after much counting down, it is finally May, and we turned over the next page in the calendar! We have started into a season of birthday countdowns: Daddy's this week, then Kiana's next month, and then Aidan's the next! We have lots to celebrate. :)
