This, combined with her recent fascination with picking up minute particles of dust and dirt with her thumb and forefinger mean that I have been trying to clean the house like mad to avoid having her ingest dirt, rather than food!

This week, Aidan has been very into long discussions. His favorite line has been, "we have to talk ALL about this!" This has ranged from asking, "Why do sharks eat fish?" to "Why can I not see my eyes?". It also involved a long "death" talk with Mommy on Monday, when Aidan got very sad about hearing that Martin Luther King died. He wanted to know why someone would shoot someone who told people that they should be nice to *everyone*, irregardless of the color of their eyes or hair or skin. It was intense! I never know with these things if I'm handling it the right way - I always feel unprepared to have such intense conversations! - but it's amazing to be able to talk about these kinds of things with my beautiful boy.
Other than that, we also found out on Monday that Aidan DID have strep: his second strep test came back positive on Monday (!). Fortunately, the antibiotics that he was on took care of it, and he is feeling much better, now. Kiana and I had a cold this week, but we don't think it was strep, and are now starting to get over it. I'm hoping that this next week we are all healthy! Daddy will be at a conference in Seattle Sunday through Friday, so a healthy week would really help me pull of staying at home with two kids all by myself. Here's hoping!
Aidan has also started being willing to *read* to us at home! It is amazing to hear him read! I also finally started watching the Sing, Spell, Read & Write instructor video, and have an idea of how to do that with him as well. And since Aidan is so into reading, I think he's really going to like doing all of those activities!
Other Aidan quotes:
- "I will never, never, NEVER make any, any, ANY messes!" (Ha, ha!)
- "Mama, I STOPPED you from loving me! I'm RIGHT!" (Not going to happen! We argue about this on a regular basis. :))
