Our most wonderful news this week is that Aidan finally had his first really good day in daycare! This week was his sixth week there (at two days per week), and things have been getting better bit by bit. But he has had a really hard time transitioning! It has been particularly tough, because he has also had to learn how to go to sleep by himself (without nursing or being pushed around in a stroller), while starting to wean (going from nursing on demand to now only in the morning and at night) and get used to staying away from Mommy and Daddy for a full day (9AM-5PM), in addition to getting to know new people and a new place at daycare, and for the first few weeks also not seeing Mommy much for two weeks straight (while she was at the UN meeting), and not seeing a ton of Daddy either. It has been rough!

But for the last three weeks, we have had the same schedule each week. (Our schedule has been:Monday: morning with Daddy, afternoon with Mommy; Tuesday and Wednesday: daycare, 9AM-5PM; Thursday, morning with Daddy, afternoon with Laurie till 4PM, and then Mommy; Friday, morning with Laurie, afternoon with Mommy), and that has helped. Now, Aidan knows that he is going to see us, and knows what to expect, and sees us both regularly. So, that is good. We think that the good day daycare this week partially because things have settled down now.

On Wednesday, Daddy spent 20-30 minutes cuddling with Aidan before he left (Aidan started off upset), and then asked him which toy he wanted to play with when Daddy left. Aidan then started playing on the computer with his friend Cira, and Daddy left, without Aidan crying at all! When Mommy picked him up at the end of the day, his daycare provider Tia Nina said that she almost called a couple of times that day to tell Mommy that Aidan was having a great day, but she didn't want to jinx it! But apparently Tia Nina did not even put away his stroller (his "safe space"), and he still was willing to play with the toys, he had a good sized nap, and overall was just much happier all day long! Mommy is SO relieved.

In other news this week, Aidan has started having a blast with tunnels! He finally tried one out at daycare, and then came back and got Mommy to put together a tunnel made out of couch cushions at home! When we had some friends over for dinner on Saturday night, Aidan and his friend Johnny had a blast chasing each other round and round and round, through the couch tunnel! It was very cute.
Aidan's favorite books at the moment are his Wild Animal Baby magazine that Aunt Devon and Uncle Matt sent us (in this month's issue, he particularly loves the page with a hippopotomus ("hippo"), an armadillo ("dillo"), and a bear ("bey-ah")). He also absolutely loves his "It's a Good Thing You're Not an Octopus!" book from Nana, and can even say octopus ("Oc-pus!").

On Sunday, we went to a community easter-egg hunt, where Aidan cried, because Mommy told him to hunt for eggs when he wanted to just keep eating goldfish crackers (!). Afterwards, he got happy because Daddy took him on a bus ride (which is all he ever wants to do anymore!) before coming back home.
