Happy 1st Birthday, Kiana!

On Thursday this week, Kiana turned one year old! We can't believe that we've already made it this far!

To celebrate, Thursday afternoon we all took our first trip to the Tenakill Swim Club in New Jersey, where we got a pool membership for the first time this summer. It was wonderful! & We can't wait to go regularly all summer long. Aidan and Kiana loved splashing around in the warm baby pool, Kiana loved the sand pit, and Aidan had a lot of fun exploring the big pool with Mommy and Daddy, and playing on the jungle gym play structure. Daddy even showed Aidan jackknifes and swan dives off the diving board! (We are so excited to have this oasis just a 15 minute drive away to escape the heat from this summer!) Afterward, we had dinner at Five Guys, and then came home for cake. Kiana continued to be skeptical about the cake, but loved the candle (again)! She also especially loved the paper her presents came in!

This weekend, we all took a very long drive to Cape Cod, so we could be there for Daddy's friend's Ihsan's wedding. Traffic was terrible (we drove 13 hours in 48 hours thanks largely to Connecticut traffic!), but being there was great: we stayed with Grandma and Grandpa at a beach house walking distance from the beach (amazing!), enjoyed catching up with our friends Chris, Jim, and Hunter, and enjoyed the wedding festivities. Aidan and Kiana looked ridiculously cute in their wedding gear, and both of them were incredibly good sports about everything. (When Aidan got dressed up in his blue suit and red tie, he whispered shyly to me: "Mama, I look like Obama!" - I LOVED it!). Since the adults were drinking adult beverages, Alex let Aidan get sloshed on Coke (I think he had 4 glasses!), and he was thrilled to be so spoiled! He danced with the best of everyone on the dance floor, and both kids ended up passing out on us while we danced at about 10PM on Saturday night. They were troopers! On the way home, Kiana entertained all of us with her babbling, which is going in full force right now ("ladaladaladaldabladalada!"), but also slept a good segment of the way, which was awesome.
